Exciting trip to Vietnam

A trip in the spring to Vietnam left us feeling more inspired and encouraged about the work that we do in AMAS. We had the privilege of seeing and participating in the work done at our microfinance institution, MOM. Since it opened its doors in 2002, MOM has been dedicated to expanding access to financial services for underserved communities, and overall improve the quality of life.

During the trip, we participated in board meetings to assess MOM's progress, and reaffirmed the vital role microfinance plays in sustainable development. These discussions highlighted the dedication and innovation that drive MOM's work.

One of the most rewarding moments was seeing four new community groups receive their very group loans. There was a noticeable sense of hope and excitement as these groups took the first step toward economic empowerment. For many, this initial access to credit marks the beginning of a journey toward greater self-sufficiency—whether it’s starting a small business, investing in agriculture, or supporting their children’s education.

It’s extremely inspiring to witness the immediate, tangible impact of microfinance on people’s lives. These experiences in Vietnam remind us why inclusive finance matters and how initiatives like MOM’s can create lasting change.
